Casey FitzRandolph is an American former speed skater, born on January 22, 1975, in Verona, Wisconsin, United States. He became an Olympic champion at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, where he won the gold medal in the 500-meter speed skating race. He also won the silver medal in the 1000-meter race at the same Olympics.
FitzRandolph began skating at the age of six. He won his first national championship title in 1996 and went on to win five more national titles over the course of his career. He also won multiple world championship medals, including one gold medal in the team sprint race in 2001.
In addition to his success on the ice, FitzRandolph is also known for his charity work. He founded the Casey FitzRandolph Memorial Fund, which provides financial assistance to young skaters in need, and has also worked with organizations such as the Special Olympics and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
After retiring from competition in 2006, FitzRandolph began working as a coach and motivational speaker. He has also worked as a broadcaster and commentator for speed skating events.
